Challenged by the plethora of AI tools and shifting capabilities, sometimes fraught with hallucinations, it’s good to see genealogists considering standards for ethical AI usage.
News just in from Stephen Little, via FB invites your feedback. “Help shape the discussion! I’m joining Lynn Broderick and David Ouimette at NGS [National Genealogical Society’s conference] to probe AI’s impact on genealogy. We’ll discuss the five Principles—Accuracy, Disclosure, Privacy, Education, Compliance—against YOUR hardest questions.”
HOW TO PARTICIPATE (even if you are not attending NGS)

Note the 3-person panel discussion SU03 Guiding Principles for the Genealogical Use of Artificial Intelligence is scheduled for Sunday, 25 May 2025 from 8am-9am Eastern. Unfortunately the in-person conference isn’t offering a simulcast to remote attendees.
