WACKY Wednesday - Junk Journaling with Taneya 18 Mar 2026
We're motivated to start today to preserve family stories.
Tonight something special happened. I was there. It happened.
Barbara at Projectkin Projectkin hosted Taneya Koonce to talk about Junk Journaling.
And the attendees went WILD.
They CLAMMORED for more.
So O’ Myrt here has scheduled the requested workshop.
Just what IS Junk Journaling?
“Junk journaling! It's a creative way to tell your stories and the stories of your ancestors,” says Taneya. “Join us in this workshop to learn how to take your family and personal ephemeral and artifacts and creatively tell their stories for future generations.”
This is a hands-on workshop so bring some bits and pieces from your day-to-day life, an empty notebook, a glue stick and we'll have fun creating together!”

DearMYRTLE
Your (not so) retired friend in genealogy.

Myrt, So glad you are doing this. I have always thought of junk journaling as putting pretty things we like to collect into a journal. Taneya's talk with Barbara on ProjectKin blew that notion out of the water. Years ago I used to do this for vacations and then of course the photo albums with stories and scrapbooks from long ago. Now I use fabric to tell my stories, but this would be a lot easier as I'm looking at all the paper things I have from our trip last month! She's such an inspiration. Love her enthusiasm!
I'm so sorry Pat that I'm not able to make this workshop. It clashes with an appointment that I can't cancel. Looking forward to the next one.
