I have been attending a monthly Writing Your Life Story Club: with Janet Few, exclusive to Gold Members of the Society Of Genealogists last time we discussed clothes the next one is homes. These are helpful as we discuss things and they bring back memories. It also makes you think more about what you need to add to those photographs you need to organise.

I confess I haven't gotten started yet, but I was inspired by Jane Hutcheon's interview of James Hagerty, author of "Yours Truly, An Obituary Writer’s Guide to Telling Your Story," https://bookshop.org/p/books/yours-truly-an-obituary-writer-s-guide-to-telling-your-story-james-r-hagerty/18378306. In a nutshell, he recommends writing your own obituary in a series of letters to yourself, or whatever else it takes to get the job done. It's a fun interview with Jane here: https://projectkin.substack.com/p/fmn-james-r-bob-hagerty-feb-2025

Barbara, When I was in high school we had to write our obit. I've saved a lot of what I have written but have not come across that! Great idea and great interview.

Aw, thank you. I found this discussion took the notion of an Obituary out of the realm of a sadness and into the light where you can look back on a life and take control of how your story will be told. This series has been just fabulous. I can't recommend the whole thing enough... it's really all Jane Hutcheon's genius (substack.com/@janehutcheon). You'll find the series at Projectkin.org/forget-me-not.

Myrtle, What a great idea for the grandkids to discover of your memories. I used to work in paper, but I now just create my books and other formats in fabric to tell stories. I don't have grandchildren or anyone to create these. However, I created one for a vacation with friends. They loved being able to look back and remember our wonderful time. I also have created books for a young friend where one book taught her colors (in both her dad's native language - French - and English) and the other how to button and zip etc using her favorite clothes she has grown out of. So many ways to share memories!
